Lavish garden parties have been a long-standing tradition in French and English culture. In recent years, throwing garden parties has entered American culture, mainly in the form of wedding and elopement celebrations. There’s a whimsical and romantic allure to being surrounded by intentionally curated floral arrangements, natural lighting, and earth-toned tablescapes. Each of these elements plays a pivotal role in elevating and enhancing a wedding’s elegance, beauty, and ambiance. The Venue
The Simon, located in Boulder Valley, is an intimate wedding venue with a modern and clean aesthetic. Nestled in downtown Louisville, The Simon is just a short stroll from coffee shops, boutique shopping, and outdoor photography locations. One of my favorite things about The Simon is its unlimited design potential for florals and decor. The venue’s ceremony and reception spaces are a neutral slate. At The Simon, couples get to bring their unique wedding visions to life with dreamy colors and textures. The venue can host up to 250 guests! There are two private getting-ready spaces, a ceremony space and a reception space. The Simon also offers rentals, including ceremony benches, reception tables, reception chairs, cocktail tables, floating bars, and more!
The Bride And Groom
The groom opted for a timeless and elegant look, donning a sleek black suit paired with a matching tie and laced Oxford dress shoes. A bright yet delicate boutonniere on the groom’s lapel added a subtle yet striking pop of color to his look. Like the groom, the bride also opted for a classic look, selecting a long-sleeved, off-the-shoulder dress paired with stylish emerald green kitten heels and dainty gold jewelry. The bride’s bridal bouquet was lush and colorful, filled with large peonies and peach roses, tied off with a pink linen ribbon.
The Tablescape
The garden party wedding tablescape boasted a linen tablecloth adorned with pastel floral arrangements, each varying in size and artfully placed in textured ceramic vases. White ceramic taper candle holders decorated with soft green candles added a warm glow to the table. Sprinkled along the linen tablecloth were citrus fruits and berries, adding natural charm and color to the table. Alongside crystal glasses and worn silver cutlery, the table settings featured a vintage-inspired touch, with gingham cloth napkins tucked beneath a delightful mix of floral and patterned dessert plates.
The Details
The bride and groom’s flat lay featured a baby blue and light rose-colored invitation suite, complemented by smokey blue Jimmy Choo pumps in the style Aurelie 85. The bride’s green velvet ring box held a vintage-inspired gold engagement ring and band and was placed next to a few delicate hand-picked flowers. A pink floral china plate was added to the flat lay, holding a pearl necklace and sitting near a white paper parasol umbrella.
Tips For Planning A Garden Party Wedding
1. How Do I Choose The Perfect Garden Party Wedding Venue?
Selecting the ideal garden party wedding venue hinges on your vision for your special day. For a springtime celebration in a colder or unpredictable weather location, consider an intimate venue like The Simon, which offers ample natural light and allows endless design customization. For a summertime celebration, opt for a venue with a breezy ambiance and plenty of shady spots beneath trees for guests to relax under if it gets too hot.
2. What Should I Wear To A Garden Party Wedding?
Whether attending a garden party wedding as a guest or hosting your own, complimentary attire is key. Vogue suggests opting for floral patterns, relaxed fabrics, and soft, romantic colors. Pairing a midi dress, suit, or jumpsuit with a straw or raffia handbag or hat can elevate and uplevel any outfit. If you’re considering heels for an outdoor garden party, a block heel will ensure you don’t sink into the soft, grassy ground. For indoor parties, consider a classic pump or sandal that complements your outfit and offers comfort for dancing. Accessorize with delicate jewelry and a light scarf or shawl for a touch of elegance.
3. What Are The Best Florals For A Garden Party Wedding?
Florals are central to creating the right vibe for your garden party wedding or luxury elopement. Consider selecting bright and airy flowers such as roses and peonies. From flower crowns to floral arches, there are endless ways to add touches of natural beauty, color, and texture to any garden party celebration. Of course, expert florists know best and can easily guide you along the design process!
